Infant Found Dead In Bed

Patricia Elizabeth Bowman, infant daughter of Milton A. and Rachel Louise (Traxler) Bowman, 421 Allegheny Street, Huntingdon, was found dead in bed this Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, 1963.

The mother discovered the lifeless body of the three month- old child in her bed when she arose at 5 a.m. A Huntingdon doctor was called and he pronounced the baby dead. Coroner E. Blair Shore was summoned and he directed that an autopsy be performed to determine the cause of death.

The child was born in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital on August 20, 1963.

Funeral services for Patricia Elizabeth Bowman, 4 month old daughter of Milton A. and Rachel (Traxler) Bowman of 421 Allegheny Street, Huntingdon will be held Friday, Dec. 20 at the Peter's funeral home in Huntingdon. The Rev. Amos Hommel will officiate, interment will be made in the Cornelius Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home this Thursday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.

The baby was found dead in bed by the mother at 5 o'clock on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, 1963. It had not been ill, the mother told the coroner E. Blair Shore, and it was apparently in its usual health at midnight when she fed it.

Coroner Shore ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death and it developed that the child had acute edema of the larynx, due to an acute respiratory infection. It had suffered from the ailment possibly two hours before death, the pathologist stated.

The child was born August 20, 1963, at Huntingdon.

The parents are the only survivors.

Patricia Bowman was supposed to be buried at Cornelius Chapel according to her obit but at the last minute the family got an infant lot at Riverside Cemetery in Huntingdon.

The newspaper is incorrect that there were no other existing family members. Patty had some half brothers and sisters.
