Charles Edward Hayes, 41, rural route No. 3, died at Hershey hospital at 4:50 p.m. Friday after an illness of nine weeks.

Mr. Hayes was born March 6, 1893 at Lovell, Kas., the son of Daniel and Susan Acca Hayes. He had made his home here for about 30 years. Mr. Hayes married Florence Reeves in 1918. She died April 20, 1931. For many years he was an employe of the H. J. Heinz company.

Surviving are three children, Edwin, Lloyd, and Mary Hayes all at home; seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. Fannie Hatton, Detroit; Mrs. Mattie Johnson, John Hayes, Mrs. Bessie Dougherty, Mrs. Mary Howard, and Daniel Hayes all of Muscatine; and Wilson Hayes of Little Falls, Minn.

The body is at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals and will remain there for services to be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. F. C. Scott of the United Brethren church. Burial will be in the Illinois City cemetery.
