George Arthur Barney, 79, died Friday at 8:30 P.M. at Highland District Hospital . He was a retired farmer, living on Hillsboro, Rt. 1.
He was born in Adams County on October 10, 1889, the son of Moses and Harriette Alverta Miller Barney. He was a member of the Mt. Washington Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; three daughters, Miss Mary Catherine Barney, at home ; Mrs. Mae Daulton, and Mrs. Dora Bell Matthai, New Carlisle; one son, John A. Barney, Folsom Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Rose Miller, Bedford, O.; one brother Clifford Barney, Paradise, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at 2 P.M. at the Rhoads Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul Jones officiating and burial following in Barnes Cemetery.
