Kenneth W. Sigman

Kenneth W. Sigman, formerly of New Danville, and Woodcrest Villa went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28 at the Mennonite Home. He was only 82. Born on December 28, 1924 in Conestoga, he was the only child of the late Lester R. and Olive E. Wade Sigman. Soon after his birth, the Sigman family moved to New Danville where he lived for 74 years. He married the late Flo A. Geesey Sigman on October 16, 1955. Flo died on January 28, 1986.

Ken attended Manor High School, where he played baseball. He served as a corporal in the US Army, 313th Medical Battalion, from 1943 to 1946. He was stationed in occupied Italy. After the war, Ken worked at Watt and Shand and the Penn Manor School District before taking a job with Permutit Co., where he was employed from 1963 until the company closed in the 1980's. He retired in 1994 from Shultz Transportation Co., and in retirement, was employed by Alphabet Graphics.

Ken had been an active member of the New Danville Fire Co., serving as president, director and fire police captain. He was a member and past president of the former Conestoga Lions Club. Until his illness, he was a member and director of the Tucquan Lions Club. Ken was an avid sports fan. From childhood, he attended Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church, Conestoga, where he served as a steward, trustee, and Official Board president.

Ken is survived by his son, Bishop Michael W., husband of Jennifer K. Sigman, Smoketown, and his much loved granddaughters, Kate, Carolyn, Amanda and Lydia. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church, 3716 Main St., Conestoga, PA., 17516. Interment will be in Conestoga Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, from 6-8:00 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Sigman's name may be sent to Bethel C.C. Church
