He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Anthony and Angelina Roberti.
He was a veteran of the Army Corps, serving from Nov. 19, 1942, until 1944. He had been employed as a carpenter in New York City, and owned a grocery which expanded to a furniture manufacturing plant and sawmill in Youngsville, Pa. Since 1970, he owned and operated a personal care home on Mathews Run Road, and Barney Roberti Craft Supplies in Warren for 15 years before closing in 1998, and operated the crafts and furniture manufacturing plant that supplied his store. This past month, he opened a restaurant and bar, the Barracks at Roberti Manor.
He was a member of St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, Youngsville, where he was active on the finance committee until 1998. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Halgren- Wilcox Post 658 of the American Legion, Youngsville.
He is survived by his wife of six years, Donna Roberti; two sons: Anthony Roberti of Jim Thorpe, Pa., and Samuel Roberti of Durham, N.C.; three daughters: Nancy Holmberg of Youngsville, Angela Peterson of Birdsboro, Pa., and Pauline Myers of Durham, N.C.; four stepchildren: Paul Theim of Warren, Debra Theim and Cindy Hale, both of Bradford, Pa., and Christine Emerson of Erie; two stepgrandchildren; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Josephine Sylvia Gigliotti Roberti, whom he married in 1945, and who died in 1996; infant twins, Joseph and Mary Roberti, who died in 1954; and a sister, Philomena Vella.
