Ossian is second of three children born to John Munro Cameron and Elizabeth Charlotte Hancock. He and siblings John Munro Jr (Jack) and Alice "Elizabeth" were most likely born in Erie KS. The family owned a home on the west side of "D" Street between Stanley and 1st Avenue in Ardmore OK (census indicates 111 D St SW). Ossian married Viola Gertrude Wessner. Their children are Monroe Ossian "Skip" Cameron and Sharon Lynn Cameron.

Ossian's father was General Manager at Great Western Oil Refining Company (founded 1906) in Kansas. He subsequently moved to Ardmore and founded Cameron Refinery. Ossian operated CAM-X Oil service station in Ardmore (see photo).
