ASHBURY HUTCHENS
---A. Hutchens, a well-known and highly respected citizen of La Plata, died at his home here this morning at 3:25, after an illness of several weeks. At the time of his death he was nearing seventy-five and he had lived in La Plata for a number of years, moving here form his farm east of La Plata, retiring from the farm duties and his many friends will be grieved to learn of his death.
---He was taken to Moberly a short time ago for an operation and the physicians pronounced his case as too serious for an operation to be of any aid and he was brought back to his home here last week.
---Mrs. Hutchens is survived by his widow, one son and three daughters, Ed Hutchens of Nebraska, Mrs. Richard Ashby, Mrs. Zack Shouse of La Plata and Miss Lou Hutchens of the home.

---William Ashbury Hutchens was born January 21, 1852 near Bloomfield, Indiana in Green County, died September 29, 1926, aged seventy-four years, eight months and eight days of age.
---He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Meador, February 7, 1874. To this union were born ten children, five of whom survive. The five that preceded him in death were George, Jessie, Millie, Maud and Bessie. Those surviving are Deloney Hutchens of Kansas City, Edd Hutchens of Geneva, Nebraska, Mrs. Zack Shouse and Mrs. Richard Ashby of La Plata and Miss Lou at home, a loving patient wife, fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
---He confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior and he gave testimony that he was a child of The King.
---Funeral services were held at the home Monday at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Hardgrove, pastor of the Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Wilsontown cemetery where a short service was also held.
