CARSON, LAURA CECIL died 13 Sep 1994

Laura Cecil Carson, 81, of Helenwood, died Tuesday, September 13, 1994, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. She was born in Scott County on January 20, 1913. She was the daughter of the late William Washington Cecil and Nancy Jane Duncan Cecil. She was preceded in death by three children: Freda, Freddy and Marion Carson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Carson; his parents, James Leonard (Jim) Carson and Rosa Lee Keeton Carson; five brothers: Rev. Virgil Cecil; William Washington (Bill) Cecil; and three infant brothers: Frank, Floyd and Roe Cecil; three infant sisters: Annie, Ollie and Rosie Cecil; a granddaughter, Patricia Denise Griffith; and great-grandsons, Christopher and Brian Carson. She was a member of the Paint Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters: Gereda Phillips and husband, Crawford, of Oneida; Phyllis Griffith and husband, Doug, of Glenmary; Patricia Hill and husband, Bob, of Helenwood; and Wanda Faye Carson of Helenwood; five sons: Kenard Carson and wife, Martha, of Pine Knot, Ky.; Charles Carson and wife, Sue, of Huntsville; Billy Joe Carson and wife, Becky, of Helenwood; Sheriff James H. (Jim) Carson and wife, Jeannie, of Oneida, and Teddy Ray Carson and wife, Carol, of Winfield. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gena Davis of Oneida; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Paint Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Milford Cecil and Rev. Roger Cecil officiating. The church choir and Rev. Milford Cecil sang. Burial was in the Cecil Cemetery at Cherry Fork. Pallbearers were Ted Carson, Ancil Chambers, Ronnie Gunter, Charles Phillips, Brad Lay and James Leonard Phillips.
