Major Clark Robinson served in WWI in the Army Air Force as a pilot and was a POW in Germany. He did escape. He went on to produce, direct and scenic design for Broadway plays at the Roxy in New York City. He was well known and respected for his work. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corp as a Major and was in charge and directed the plays for the troops in the China Burma India campaign. He was killed when he and a few others boarded their plane to take off to the next stop for another play. They went down over the mountains due to fog. Clark had on board with him his new Afghan puppy to bring home with him. There were no survivors. His wife Ethel received his last letter a week later and in it he had said that he had the strangest and oddest feeling that he was not long for this world.
A reporter on board for Life Magazine lived long enough to tell the first responders what happened.
