Graveside rites for Edith Mae Parker, 80, were at 10 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Dan Patman, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.


Mrs. Parker died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at her Ardmore, Okla. residence after a brief illness. She was born May 8, 1929 at Corsicana, Texas, the daughter of James and Lillie Coffey Covington. She and Cecil Parker Sr. were married Sept. 27, 1947 at Corsicana and moved to Ardmore four years ago from Waco, Texas. Cecil died March 3, 2006. Her parents, a sister and brother also preceded her in death.


A member of the First United Methodist Church, she had received an associates degree in Accounting and was a homemaker.


Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Doctors William and Mary Parker of Ardmore and Skip and Debbie Parker of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Jason, William, Laura and Emily Parker.
