[Vesper] Marie Covington Thompson, 84, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2008, in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Visitation will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with the Rev. Lain Teel from Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating.
She was born on January 2, 1924 in Jester, Texas to parents, James and Lilly Covington. She married Elton Thompson on August 1, 1942 in Corsicana, Texas. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Corsicana. She was a devoted homemaker, faithful daughter, wife and mother. She is remembered as a Servant of Jesus Christ and encourager of her children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lilly Covington, and husband Elton Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her sister, Edith Parker of Ardmore, Oklahoma; her two sons, Tommy Lewis Thompson of Corinth, Texas, and Dr. John Paul Thompson of Arlington. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
