Martha was the daughter of Noah Good and Cyntha Fyke. Her parents moved to the Farmers Branch area of Dallas County, Texas, in 1846. They lived there the rest of their lives, so Martha spent her youth on a farm in Dallas County.

On December 20, 1870, she married Christopher Columbus Wainscott. They lived in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to New Mexico sometime after 1910. Their daughter Dora Belle Gentry is also buried in the cemetery.
