He served in World War One. After his Honorable Discharge he returned to the bank in Hackensack, Minn. In July 1927, Leo and Cecil came to Alexandria, Minn., to open the Barthelemy Furriers. He was united in marriage to Iva Garrity.
Mr. Barthelemy was the oldest member of the bank board in length of service, having served for over twenty-five years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post and served as President of the Alexandria Golf club, was a member of the Elks Club and Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Barthelemy died Oct. 17, 1967 at Our Lady of Mercy hospital at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife, Iva; two daughters: Patricia and (Mrs. James P. Perdue) of Alexandria; Geraldine Mary (Mrs. Sam Kamaha) of Kaneoke, Hawaii; also surviving are ten grandchildren; six brothers and one sister: Cecil of Alexandria; Felix and Paul of Bemidji; Peter of Alexandria; Richard of Minneapolis; Edward of Oregon; Dorothy (Mrs. Fred Steiner) of Alabama.
Funeral services were held Oct. 21, 1967 from St. Mary's Catholic church, Alexandria, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Theo. J. Wrobel officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery, Alexandria. Military honors were held.
