Cecil Barthelemy was born in Benton County, Minnesota on July 4, 1899, the son of Edward and Mary Brennan Barthelemy. He was united in marriage to Wilma Jean (Polly) Pollock on November 26, 1925 at Brainerd, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Barthelemy moved to Alexandria, Minnesota in 1927, where he and his brother Leo, owned and operated the Barthelemy Furriers.
Cecil was Past President of the Rotary, member of the Elks, School Board and was on the original Board, forming the Viking Towers. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Cecil passed away at the St. Cloud Manor Nursing Home on October 19, 1979 at the age of 80 years. Surviving are his wife, Polly; two daughters: Jackie (Mrs. Robert Hawkins) of Burnsville, Minnesota; Josette (Mrs. Roger J. Anderson) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; four brothers and one sister: Felix and Paul of Bemidji, Peter of Alexandria; Richard of Mexico; Edward of Oregon; Dorothy of California; also surviving are twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo, one daughter, Jean and one grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, with Rev. Arthur Hoppe and Rev. Joseph Korf officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Richard Harris, Kenneth Tessmer, Karl Kolstad, Marvin Frieburg, Norman Nelson and Tony Schneiderhan. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Krueger, Otto Tessmer, James Leroy, Lee Hewitt, Earl Moede, James Swift, Carl Klimek, Earl Lamb, Dr. H. L. Stemsrud, Dr. H. J. Merickel, Dr. P. M. Geiser, Dr. D. E. Perkins, Dr. C. E. Carlson, Dr. F. A. Solberg, Einar Hedine, Robert Chan, Sr., Martin Haar, A. M. Olsen and George Buscher. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
