She died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Lakeside Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1926, in Big Spring. She married Loren E. Gardner in Los Angeles, Calif., on July 12, 1945. She was a waitress for several years in Brownfield from 1947-88, moving in 1988, and to Lubbock in 1995.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Victor Eugene Gardner.
Survivors include a son, Kirk E. Gardner of Lubbock; a daughter, Evelyn Duff of Lubbock; a brother, Jack Carter of Seminole; three sisters, Murriel Duff of Lubbock, Ybonne Charters of Brownfield and Mary Jeffcoat of Smyer; and three grandchildren.
