DEATH CLAIMS LELAND MADSEN
Salmon, June 20 - Funeral services for Leland Madsen, 47, were held at the Salmon LDS Church Thursday with Richard McDaniels conducting. Mr. Madsen died June 17 at his home near Patterson.
He was born in Malad, Aug. 1, 1915, to Franklin and Mary Ann Madsen. He grew up there, attended school and worked in the area until 1933. At this time he and his brother went to the Horse Prairie area.
Mr. Madsen was married to Virginia Pauline Dickson in Dillon, Sept. 29, 1938. The couple moved to Malad and engaged in ranching until 1994. They then came with their family to the Pahsimerol Valley and purchased a ranch near Patterson. They made their home there until the time of his sudden death. He was the Democratic chairman of Pahsimerol; on the Board of BLM, a member of the LDS Church receiving his priesthood in Malad.
He is survived by his widow, Virginia; five children, Glenda Kaye Simmons of Othello, Wash., Gary Lee of May, Idaho, twins, Keith and Kenneth and Sandra Rae Madsen, all of Patterson; one granddaughter, Lorali Simmons; and the following sisters and brothers, Ruby Merril of Riverton, Utah; Faye Ward, Clifford and Reed all of Malad; Dee of Aberdeen, Ray of Pocatello; Dwaine of Seattle, Wash.; Boyd of Hayward, Calif. and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery Friday.

ACCIDENT VICTIM SERVICES HELD
Salmon, June 23 - Funeral services were held Thursday for Leland Madsen, Patterson, 47, who died when a pickup truck he was working from beneath fell off the jacks, crushing his chest last Monday.
The ambulance from Challis was called but Mr. Mason (sic) died before its arrival. The accident took place near the Madsen ranch near Patterson.
Funeral services were held at the Salmon LDS Church with Richard McDaniels conducting.
Burial took place Friday at the Malad City* cemetery. Jones Funeral Home was in charge.
Mr. Madsen was a native of Malad but moved to a ranch near Patterson in 1949. Survivors include the widow and five children.
