He was born Nov. 23, 1914, at Reed to the late Clarence and Blanche Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vallie Marie Smith; daughter, Kathy Snodgrass; granddaughter, Vicki Snodgrass; brother, Clarence Smith; sister, Ercell Smith; and an infant sister.
He is survived by two daughters, Buddy (Dennis) Cooper of Pocahontas and Carolyn (Stephen) Osofsky of Washington, D.C.; two nephews, Bobby and Vic Martin, both of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Kirsten (George) Beronio and great-grandsons Griffin and Luke, all of Washington, D.C., Devin (Sharon) Snodgrass, Chase Cooper and great-grandchildren Alison and Devin, Courtney (Jason) Walker and great-grandchildren Jacob and Izzy, and Callie (Gene) Johnson and great-grandchildren Stayley and Tessa, all of Pocahontas; two sisters, Vivian Portell of Leawood, Kan., and Hazel Rideout of Searcy; and seven brothers, Buel Smith of Searcy, John Ray Smith of Gordells, Mich., Claxton Smith and Warren Smith, both of Pocahontas, Rupert Smith of Glennie, Mich., Mason Smith of Pangburn and Don Smith of Clawson, Mich.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westridge Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens with Larry Owens and Curt Sparks officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 tonight in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Black River Technical College Elwood Smith Auto Mechanic Scholarship.
