At his home, in Santa Monica, California, February 23, 1892, of pericarditis, Orin Wishel, aged 73 years, 10 months and 18 days.

Mr. Wisel came to Wisconsin from Michigan, in 1840. Remained three years, then retuned home where he married. In 1845 he and his wife moved to Liberty Pole. In 1850 they moved to Viroqua, and in April 1851 he was elected county clerk and also clerk of the court, choosing for his deputy the Hon. W.F. Terhune, who greatly assisted him in the discharge of his offices, which were merged together.

Wisel served in the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry during the late Rebellion.

He leaves one brother and three sisters, one being Grandmother Higgins of Liberty Pole, and also four children to mourn his death, his wife having died in 1862.
