Sometime in 1948-1949, German sales girl Liselotte Sofie Köberlin [also known as Lee or Lilo], and an active duty US Army soldier, Charles Henry Robinson who was stationed in the Karlsruhe, Germany area, established a residence in Karlsruhe where they lived together. During this time they conceived 2 children, a daughter, Luella Roselee Clara Köberlin born February 1950, and a son Charles Hermann Köberlin, born March 1951.

Records show that in around 1953, Charles Robinson was transferred to another duty station location, then later returned to America. In about 1954, he ended his active duty military status. It is believed from the time Charles Robinson left Germany, Lilo (Liselotte Sofie Köberlin) wrote to his sister Ada Robinson letters and sent photographs of herself and of their children. In the communications and on back of the photographs she identified the children as being their son, she referred to as Charles Robinson, and their daughter, and she referred to as Roselee Robinson.

Records show that in January 1954, Miss Köberlin placed the children in the Karlsruhe Children’s Home for Infants for adoption, which was also around the same time Miss Köberlin’s mother passed and the children’s father, Charles Robinson ended his military service and got married in Ohio.

Records show that Charles Hermann Köberlin was adopted in August 1954 and his sister, Luella Roselee Clara Köberlin was adopted in December 1954.

An obituary article for Liselotte Sofie Köberlin indicated she was born January 31, 1928, Karlsruhe, Germany and died on June 3, 2017, in South Schodack, New York, at the age of 89, and was buried in Menands, New York. FAG # 199563850

Records show that the father Charles Henry Robinson was born on April 12, 1928, in Saco, Montana and died on July 20, 1978, in Cambridge, Ohio and buried in Coshocton, Ohio. FAG # 58454700
