Son of Elmer Dexter Bowman and Leora Elsie Hopkins. Cody had 2 brother Elwood and Dale, 4 sisters Louise, Judy, Lynn and Pat. A half sister Nancy Warren and an adopted sister Susan.

Cody parents divorce when Cody was a child. He lived with his father.

Cody married in 1951 and had 2 daughters Karen and Renee and 1 son Douglas. They divorced in 1962.

Cody married Gloria Ann Wade Petty in 1962. They had their son Craig Steven June 22, 1964. Their daughter Carolyn Ann was born in November 5, 1967.

Cody worked for Modesto Empire Traction Co. as a switchman for 25 years. As a small girl, Cody would take me with him to work for a couple of hours. I would get to ride in the engine of the train, and blow the horn.

Cody was also a Patterson, California Policeman and a Stanislaus County Deputy Sheriff.

Cody and Gloria divorced in 1971, but remained friends.

Later in life he became a truck driver. His younger children loved to go in the truck with him.

Cody died of cancer, he spents his last months in Lake Tahoe, Nevada with his sisters Judy and Lynn.

Cody's wishes were to be buried next to his father. The plot belonged to his brother Elwood. Elwood graciously shared the plot
