He was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Scott County, Ark.
He was orphaned at age 12. He married Forbia Alice Bates on Sept. 3, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Okla. In 1948, he moved his family to Lubbock and was parts manager at Plains White Trucking Company for more than 20 years.
He and his wife returned to Oklahoma City in 1969, where he worked as manager for Transcon, retiring in 1981.
They moved back to Lubbock in 1994. He was a Mason and member of the Yellow House Lodge 841. He belonged to Heaven Bound Sunday School Class at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Daryl and Roger, both of Lubbock, and Gary of Houston; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two stepgrandchildren.
