Mrs. H.C. Prange Is Called To Rest At Home Sunday; Plan Services On Wednesday

Mrs. H.C. Prange, 77, passed away at her home at 617 Erie avenue at 4 a.m. Sunday after an illness of two weeks.

Mrs. Prange was the widow of the founder of the H.C. Prange Company and was well known in the community. While it was known that she was ill, her death will come as a shock to her friends because she was quite active up to the time of her illness, and because her illness did not take a serious turn until Saturday.

Possessed of a friendly, kindly disposition and a delightful sense of humor, Mrs. Prange was the type of person held in high regard by all who knew her. She was always doing things for others, but her sincere sense of modesty was such that the extent of her many charities that went to organizations, institutions and individuals will never be known. She was always cheerful, had a good word for all with whom she came in contact, and was the kind of person who will be greatly missed, who will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her.

While Mrs. Prange’s interests were mainly devoted to her home and members of her family, she also found time for her charitable enterprises organizations to which she belonged. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, the Women’s Charity club, the Eliza Prange Circle of Memorial hospital, the St. Mark’s Aid society, the Needle Guild, Kranschen, and the Sheboygan Women’s club. She was particularly active in church and church organization activities, but always kept herself in the background in any movement which she aided or in which she had any participation.

In addition to this, Mrs. Prange also was one of the pioneer cottagers at Elkhart Lake, having a summer home in Sheboygan Bay there for nearly 40 years. She and Mr. Prange found considerable pleasure in spending their summers there with their children, after Mr. Prange’s death in 1928 she continued to maintain her summers residence at Elkhart and entertained relatives, friends, and the members of her organizations there on many occasions. She was especially happy when she could have the large family relationship as her guests on a Sunday of holiday.

Mrs. Prange, the former Augusta Bodenstein, was born in Sheboygan on August 16, 1863. She attended Trinity Lutheran School here, and her marriage to H.C. Prange, since deceased, occurred on December 29, 1891.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. William Jung; four daughters, Mrs. Otto Gunther, Miss Wilma Prange, Mrs. Robert Chesebro, and Miss Mary Prange; seven grandchildren. Four brothers, Charles, John, Martin, and Adolph Bodenstein preceded her in death.

The body may be viewed at the home this evening until the hour of the services, 2 p.m., Wednesday. The services will be held at the home, 617 Erie avenue, and Rev. C.P. Schulz of Trinity Lutheran church will officiate.

Burial will be made in the family lot at Wildwood cemetery.
