Andrew Bachofer was born in Switzerland in September, 1833. He married Pauline Yaggi from Wittnau on April 20, 1868.

Andrew, Pauline, their sons John and Joseph Andrew Bachofer left from LeHavre, France emigrating to the United States in about 1873.

Family records say they came through Cincinnati and St. Louis to Salina, Kansas. They bought a house and land in Saline County in 1880.
