Daughter of the late Samuel Charles and Sarah Florence Johnson Davis, she was a graduate of Aynor High School and attended Columbia and Winthrop Colleges and was a graduate of the Dietetic School in Washington, DC. She worked at the Charleston Navy Yard during WWII and earned a First Class Machinist Badge as she learned to weld and to use an acetylene torch. She had a long career in food service as a dietitian working a various hospitals and at Pfeiffer College. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, her most recent being the Belin Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman McGraw; four brothers, Harry Davis, Leon Davis, Palmer "Bill" Davis and Earl Davis; three sisters, Pauline Davis, Lunette Davis Floyd, and Reba Davis Glasgow. She was survived by two sisters, Dena Davis McGinnh and Mary Frances Davis Hassell; and an extended family of nieces and nephews, godchildren, and friends. Her funeral was held at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church with The Rev. Mike Alexander officiating on May 20, 2009.
