Born to Earl Gamble Palmer and Edna Pearl Shields, my mother was a brilliant mathemetician. She graduated from Miami of Ohio and taught math while a student because of the war. She even designed a preflight aeronautics class for young men who planned to enter the service on graduation. She married David Russell Chase, II, in June of 1945, and together they raised three children: Jeany, Russ, and Stan.
