Milwaukee, Wis, January 31, 1898 - A telegram was received in Milwaukee yesterday, announcing the death of Robert Davies at Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. Davie was one of the oldest settlers of Milwaukee and was one of the prominent men of the city fifty years ago. He was 83 years of age. He left Milwaukee a short time ago, apparently in the besto health, to spend the winter in California. Heart disease was the cause of dissolution. The deceased is survived by three sons, Walter V., Frank C. and Byron V. Davies.
Robert Davies was a member of the Utiliarian association which founded a communistic colony near Mukwonago many years ago, on the farm of Adam Ray, father of Charles Ray, the Milwaukee banker. After the community broke up, Mr. Davies came to Milwaukee. He was born in Wales.
