Born in Bishop on Sept. 11, 1917, Clara died April 1, 2009 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop.
Clara was raised in Bishop, moving to Lee Vining with her husband, Robert, in 1937.
After building and operating Calhoun Service Station and Motel for 30 years, Clara and Robert retired and took up scenic/wildlife photography. The couple traveled extensively in North America, spending summers in Lee Vining at Camp Azusa.
During her 91 years of life, Clara touched many with her faith, love of music, giving heart and her wonderful photographs.
She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Clara is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Robert C. Calhoun; brother, Tom Shelly; daughters, Betty O'Neil and Roberta Whear; granddaughters, Sherri Osborn, Shirli Osborn, Koui Elliot, Kandi Gill, Vicki May and Shelli Schiet; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
