Claude Bentley Sr.

Mr. Claude Woodrow Bentley Sr, 80, of Hudson, North Carolina died March 26, 1999 at Catawba Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 25, 1918 in Avery County to the late Jeff Bentley and Ada Robinson Bentley.

He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from the U. S. Army with 20 years of service, was 1st Sgt First Class in the U. S. Army having served in World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Bentley was a meat inspector for the state.

Survivors include one son, three daughters, two brothers, four step-children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Jeff and Ada Bentley, his wife, Lillian McGuire Bentley, three brothers, Fred Bentley, Ed Bentley, and Maston Bentley, three sisters, Annie Bentley, Bessie Bentley and Dosha James and one granddaughter, Nichole Bentley.

Services were conducted Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with the rev, Max Crump. Rev Bll McGuire and Lawrence Jones officiating. Graveside rites were conducted at 3 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church.

Memorials maybe made to Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
