Paul was a resident of Swanton and Cumberland, at the time of his passing at the Lions Center.

He was known for his great laugh, his love of life, and being ready for a party – where one would have a great time – absolutely.

He was a son of the late Alexander Rhodes Buchanan and Laura (Clauson) Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Krantz; one son-in-law, Kevin Taugher; and three brothers, Wilbur, George, and Lloyd Buchanan.

He graduated from Allegany High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Paul Lumber Company, Cumberland, and Paul Home Center, LaVale. In addition, he was a city employee at the City of Cumberland Housing Department.

While living in Cumberland, he and his wife belonged to St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He was also affiliated with St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oakland.

He was a member of Potomac Lodge #100, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies, Ali Ghan Shrine, where he had been a member of the Highlanders Unit.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
