Clyde William Wallace, 83, of Battle Creek died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Willow Dale Care Center.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek with the Rev. Daniel Torkelson officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Wallace was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Battle Creek, the son of Elmer and Stella (Strain) Wallace. He graduated from Schaller High School in 1935. He married Pearl Clark Nov. 26, 1944, in Ida Grove, Iowa.

He farmed near Battle Creek until 1960, after which he drove a tank wagon. He was a member of St. John's Luthran Church in Battle Creek.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Beverly and Kenneth Bower of Danbury, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Larry and Terri of Battle Creek, and James and Lois Ann of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Brent Bower, Renee Fritz, Michelle Lulf, Sarah Tarr, and Chris, Lee, and Korey Wallace; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Hacker of Lawton, a brother, Lowell Wallace of Quincy, Wash.; and 22 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Minor; and a brother, Elery Wallace.
