Attended 1st Baptist Church of St. Joseph, Missouri with Anna Mildred Garrett. (Future Grandmother-in-law). Was a courtroom Stenographer in St. Joseph, Missouri where she met Fayron Clayton Carmichael who was practicing law at the time.
Fayron abandoned Harriet and his three-year-old son, Blair. While searching for Fayron, Harriet Jean caught a sinus infection and that developed into a fatal case of Meningitis.

DEATH OF MRS. F.C. CARMICHAEL

Mrs. Harriet Jean Carmichael, wife of Fayron C. Carmichael, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Barnett, 632 North 24th Street, St. Joseph Saturday morning at half-past five o’clock. Her husband formerly lived in this county near Amity and was formerly a student in the Maysville High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carmichael. Besides her husband, Mrs. Carmichael leaves one son, Blair Carmichael, her parents, and one brother, Woodson Barnett. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Joseph.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
