George Rodgers Dies at Syracuse
Syracuse-(N-P)- George W. Rodgers, 79, resident of Syracuse for almost 50 years, died Saturday at Community Memorial Hospital after an illness of some duration.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church with the Rev. J.C. Lowson in charge with burial at Park Hill Cemetery. The body is at Tonsing and Son Mortuary.
Pallbearers will be Eldro Andrews, Perry Andrews, Carl Masters, Vernon Earl, Charles Miller and Herman Teten.
Mr. Rodgers was born August 29, 1873, in Gentry, Mo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Rodgers. He married Anna E. Pratt at Oregon, Mo. on December 23, 1895 and they moved to the Syracuse Community where he farmed in 1904. Mrs. Rodgers died December 15, 1948.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Methodist and had been active in the Otoe County Fair Association . He was in charge of fair concessions for several years.
Surviving are three sons, Miley of Berkeley, Calif., Harvey of Temple City, Calif. Orville of Bellflower, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Fern Phillips, Broken Bow, Neb. and Mrs. Lola Copenhaver, Syracuse, six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Two sons preceded their father in death.
Mrs. Cora Rodgers, a sister-in-law , and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
