Reuben Skidmore was the son of Nathan and Jane Skidmore. His name is often spelled "Ruben".

Obit: Lebanon Rustic Republican, May 28th, 1937:

"RUBEN SKIDMORE, age 96, a lifelong resident of Pulaski County, died Sunday at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Williams of Eveningshade, where he had made his home the last six years. He was a soldier in the Civil war.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2pm at the Palace Church. The pastor Rev. Frank Manes officiating. Interment was in the Palace cemetery.

Mr. Skidmore is survived by three sons, I. W. Skidmore of near Phillipsburg, formerly of Lebanon, Frank Skidmore of Winton, Calif and Bill Skidmore of Modesto, Calif. Also surviving are forty-three grandchildren, 101 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren."

Ruben was married to Caroline Robinson. During the Civil War he served in the 48th Missouri Infantry, Company A, private.

His death certificate states that he died of influenza.
