Luella Mae Skillings

Luella Mae Skillings, 77, of Heppner, formerly of Pendleton, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wallowa Valley Cemetery (Bramlet Cemetery) in Wallowa, Ore.

Mrs. Skillings was born April 22, 1923, at Promise, Ore., to Charles P. and Bertha Jane Doud Carper.

During World War II, she worked in canneries and laundries.

On Sept. 6, 1945, she married Isaac Henry Skillings, and the couple moved to Wallowa.

Survivors include daughters, Verna L. Mudie of Ione, Vicki Nepple of Portland, and Annita B. Skillings of Everett, Wash.; sons, Rick L. Skillings of Wallowa, and Jay Skillings of Pendleton; brothers, Ivan Carper of Wallowa, and Lewis Doud Carper of La Grande; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac, and by son, Stephen Lee Skillings.
