William Martin Fishback, 55, of Jacksonville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, Illinois. He was born Feb. 18, 1954, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Bill and Virginia Thompson Fishback. He married Barbara A. Moe on June 28, 1986, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Kristen Fishback of Jacksonville, Illinois; a son, Bill Fishback of Jacksonville, Illinois; and a sister, Sue Fishback of Jacksonville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Martin was a 1972 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 1977 graduate of Illinois College. He was employed as an elementary teacher for the Douglas School District at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota for nine years and later for Jacksonville School District 117 for 11 years. After retiring from teaching, he was engaged in several business ventures. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading, cooking, canoeing, camping and music.

Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
