Funeral services for Jacqueline Joyce Gunter, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Gunter, Oklahoma City, former Carnegie residents, were held
Wednesday, April 11 at the Wilmont Place Baptist church in Oklahoma City. Rev.
Clovis Hibbard officiated. Interment was in Arlington Memorial cemetery,

Jacqueline died Sunday, April 8, in Children's Memorial hospital, Oklahoma
City, where she had been a patient several times during the past 15 months. At

University Medical Center removed a mole from her right temple and discovered
that a malignant melanoma, sometimes called "black cancer," was present.
She enrolled in the fifth grade at Jefferson Davis school in September but was
readmitted to the hospital in October for a second operation. She did her
school work between trips to the hospital and by March of this year, when the
malignancy had spread to her right leg, she wad confined to a wheel chair. She
went to the hospital for the last time on Tuesday, April 3.
She was born at Carnegie on January 20, 1950. She moved with her parents to
Oklahoma City when still small. She was a member of the Wilmont Place Baptist
church.
She is survived by her parents, 412 S.E. 48th street, Oklahoma City; five
sisters, Linda of the home, Mrs. Helen Drain, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Wanda
Vreeland, Mrs. Gwendolyn Carter and Mrs. Roberts Ryan, all of Shawnee; her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Powers, Carnegie, and Mrs. Minnie Gunter,
