John Bunyon Garton born in Switzerland Co., Indiana, January 12, 1814. Married to Louisa Lloyd in 1833, three children were born to them, two sons and one daughter, he lost his wife in 1839, came to Missouri in 1839, was married to Sarah Dass in 1840, nine children were born of the union five sons and four daughters. Again lost his wife in 1874, was married to Adaline H. Burton in 1875, with whom he was living at the time of his death. Three sons and one daughter are living. He was converted and united with the M. E. Chruch in 1840, of which he was a member at the time of death. Age 88 years,8 months and 8 days. Brother Garton departed this life at 9 o'clock a.m. Sept. 20, 1902, at his home located in the dooryard of his son J. B. Garton. The funeral services were to take place Sept. 21, but on account of the rain the services were postponed until Sept. 28, at schoolhouse No. 66 at 8 o'clock. A large audience was persent.
