Mrs. Sarah Michael Dead
The death angel has again visited this community and claimed another of our aged pioneers. Early yesterday morning the soul of Mrs. Sarah Michael ascended to its Maker. Her demise occurred at the home of her son, Shade Michael, near this city, where she had quietly spent her declining years. She was aged 87 years, 11 months, and 20 days, and her death was due to old age. She was a native of Indiana; was married to Joshua Michael in Buchanan county, Mo., and they moved to Kansas about 1866. Her husband died near Perry some 30 years ago. Grandma Michael was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by two sons, Shade and Zach Michael, and two brothers, Stephen Gorton of DeKalb, mo., and John Gorton, who resides in California. The funeral was held at the home at 10 o'clock this morning, conducted by the Rev. Shutt and interment was made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
