Sarah "Sallie" Ellen Grimes White McElyea was one of ten children born to Benjamin Franklin Grimes and Mary Jane Wallace Grimes. This cemetery was founded and named by Mr. Grimes, as is stated on the historical plaque and the first grave was that of her sister, Cassandra Gabriella "Ella" Grimes.
Sarah Grimes married Leonidas White, on Aug. 27, 1884. She had two children with Mr. White. They were: Jess Franklin White and Eliza Maria White.
Mr. White died and she then married James Preston McElyea on Oct. 22, 1891. Mr. McElyea was a widower and had five children when they married. They were: Charlie McElyea, Mollie McElyea Grimes, Matt McElyea, Lucy McElyea, and Ed McElyea
Together she and Mr. McElyea had five more children: Jody McElyea (Jones), Lula Anna McElyea (Jones), Viola Mae McElyea (Laney), Floyd Vernon McElyea and Will McElyea.
She was known to her grandchildren as "Grandma Mac".
