Found in the Smith County Pioneer: Smith Centre, KS 26 Nov 1886, Friday page 3
Sometime last winter, John Gregg, an old man some seventy years of age, and who was a soldier in a West Virginia regiment during the late war, and had been living with friends and relatives in the neighborhood of Reamsville for several years past, was taken to the poor house of this county, and was shortly afterwords sent to the Soldiers' Home at Leavenworth. Where he has recently died.
