By 1994, the stone had eroded to the point of being almost unreadable. From notes taken about 1988: "Our father Adam Grow who departed [this life] Nov. 28, 1827 [Aged 72 years] . . . " (parts in brackets denote hard to read info; section of stone which follows is illegible.) A metal plaque placed below the stone states, "Adam Grow, 1st Company, Third Batallion Militia 1781."
