When Abraham Kauffman's will was written, he was from South Middleton township, Cumberland county. He named daughter Lavinia to receive all his household and kitchen furniture, excepting two beds and one ten plate stove. He also gives her the "piana" which he bought for her and also a cow, provided she does not get a cow from him during his lifetime. Regarding his real estate, an 8 acre lot shall be given to Joseph provided Joseph pay him $900.00 with its interest, being money which "I paid him" and went security for with John Spangler, my brother in law. If Joseph didn't pay money during Abraham's lifetime, the property was to go to public sale, provided Abraham did not sell lot during his lifetime. 15 acres of my mountain land shall to go son Daniel. After his 15 acres is surveyed off, the balance of mountain land to be surveyed into three equal lots in which daughter Eliza shall have first choice, daughter Harriett to have second choice, and daughter Lavina to have remaining lot. Son Daniel to receive 50' x length of lot on the Boiling Springs from the south side of said lot, with remainder to son Spangler subject to Spangler paying $200 to the executor. There were also some bequests to grandchildren. Will was made December 11, 1846.
