He was born October 31, 1921, in Myrtle Springs, son of the late Callie and Wesley Summerfield Sherwood. He was a beteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a retired nurseryman, craftsman and musician. He was member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church where he served as song leader more then 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ethel Sherwood, Myrtle Springs; sons, Alton Sherwood, Balch Springs, Raybon Sherwood, Wills Point; Dennis Sherwood, Robbin Sherwood and James Sherwood, all of Myrtle Springs; and Dusty Sherwood, Gun Barrel City; daughters, Davamay Reese, DeVore, Calif., Linda Travis, Fruitvale, and Bobbie Yates, Lake Tawakoni; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers. The family will recieve friends 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home.
