Ethel Irene Simpson Sherwood was born on July 12, 1925, in Wills Point, Texas and was married October 3, 1941, to Sam Laveta Sherwood(deceased). She had nine children, Alton Sherwood, DaFamay Reese, Linda Travis, Raybon Sherwood, Dennis Sherwood, Dusty Sherwood, Robin Sherwood, Bobbie Jean Sanders, and James Sherwood.

She lived in the Van Zandt County area all her life, although she loved traveling, which included: California, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Washington DC, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and also, several cruises.

Ethel loved all her 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren very much and babysat for nearly all of them.
Ethel & Sam farmed and had a wholesale nursery in Edgewood and Myrtle Springs.

Ethel was a strong, energetic pioneer woman, known for her loving caring attitude, loving to visit and talk about what's happening in the local area. She had many friends. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo (and no visiting during bingo, she was serious) and enjoyed visiting the casinos to play with her friends and some family members.

Ethel will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A family-friend gathering will take place on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home located at 205 Corky Boyd Ave, Wills Point, Texas.
