Ralph Blair

At his request, no public services will be held for Ralph Kenneth Blair, 73, of Coos Bay. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory with inurnment at Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay.

Ralph was born May 18, 1936, in Winatoon, Neb., the son of James Earl and Ona Mae Baumbarger [sic] Blair. He died April 25, 2009, in Coos Bay.

His family left Nebraska and moved to Oregon when Ralph was 4 years old. He received his high school education in Oregon and California. Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served 20 years, 14 days prior to retiring. He met Sharon L. Heer in 1957 and they were married in 1959 in North Bend. While Ralph was in the Air Force, they traveled many states and were in Germany. They had two children, Scott and Dominique. After Ralph's retirement from military life, they moved back to Coos Bay, where he became a mail carrier and eventually supervisor of postal operations at the Coos Bay post office. Ralph retired from the Postal Service in 2005. He was a very caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved it when his children and grandchildren were around and will be missed so much.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Sharon Blair of Coos Bay; son, Kevin Scott Blair and his wife, Sherry of Scio; daughter, Dominique Charmaigne Ray and her husband, Jody of Coquille; sisters, Gertrude Jones of Slidell, La. and Darlene Seabourn of Salem; brothers, Elmer Blair and his wife, Flo of Ventura, Calif., Donnie Blair and his wife, Willy of Farmington, Ark., and Danny Blair of Central Point; six grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsey and Brieanna Blair of Scio and Zachary, Mariah and Trisha Ray of Coquille; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dick Blair, Mary Whitworth, Dorothy Wilson and Renee Blair.
