William John Drake, 67, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, from a sudden heart attack while walking his dog.
He was born in Barnum, Wis, on Dec. 13, 1901, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at Tulsa, Okla. After serving two years, he was discharged as a chief shipfitter and work as a plumber until his retirement.
He and his wife, Hazel (Holloway) Drake, lived in Harrisonville from 1951 until 1960, when they moved to Kansas for a year. They then moved to Kansas City where they resided until the time of his death.
He leaves his wife, Hazel; two brothers, James LeRoy Drake, Jamesville, Wis; Joseph Drake, Chicago, ILL; four sisters, Mrs Ethel Weller, Mrs Lydia Parma, both of Chiccago; Mrs Katherine Mook, Deloit, Wis; and Mrs Amy Gokey, Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
Services were held on Labor Day, Sept. 2, in the Blackman Chapel, Kansas City. Burial was at the National Cemetery in Ft. Leavenworth, Kans, on Sept. 3.
