Simeon Miller Ballard, a native of Kentucky, who came to California in 1852, crossing the plains from Missouri with ox-teams. On arriving here he engaged in farming in different counties until 1881, when he located in Fresno county, near Riverdale, where he was living at the time of his death, March 15, 1890. His wife bore the maiden name of Miss Amy E. Dye and was born in Ohio.
