Carlo Barbara
February 13, 1911 - April 16, 2009

Carlo Barbara, age 98, passed away on April 16, 2009. At the time of his peaceful death he was surrounded by his loving family, who will love, miss & cherish his memory forever.

He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Barbara and Rose Barbara. Frances LaMantia was his devoted longtime companion. Loving father of Josephine (Vincent) Giordano, Dr. Joseph (Paula) Barbara and Bridget (Aadu) Voorand. Adored grandfather of Vincent Giordano, Jr., Nora (Dan) Reiblein, Carl Giordano, Dr. Christina (Michael) DiVenti, Joanne (David) Conca, John Barbara, Teresa (John) Zazenski, Barbara Voorand, Eric Voorand (Sparkle) and David Barbara. Dearest great grandfather of Ethan, Maria and soon to arrive baby girl Reiblein, Katie & Emily DiVenti.

Carlo came to this country as a young man in 1937. He married Eleanor in 1942. Together they built a very successful dress manufacturing company. In 1966 they relocated to Sunnyvale, CA, where he started a new life as a real estate developer.

He cared for his wife, Eleanor, until her death in 1970 after a long illness. He then retired and relocated to Morgan Hill after his marriage to Rose in 1975. In Morgan Hill, he was able to pursue his passion of working the land. His cherry orchard gave him much peace and enjoyment. The rewards of his endeavors resulted in the sweetest cherries in the valley.

His philosophy on life is an inspiration to us all. To be content…to live a simple life…to do what you love and live in a beautiful place…well…that's a good life.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 20, 2009, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, in Morgan Hill, CA. Entombment followed at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. Services provided by: Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy, CA.
