Mary was a Syrian immigrant. The family settled in probably the area of Clifton, Graham County, Arizona, and then Globe, Gila County.

Mary married another Syrian immigrant, George Halby, in about 1903, and they raised six children in Arizona.

Eventually some of the family moved to southern California.

George was widowed in 1947, upon the death of his wife Mary at age 60. She was buried here, and seven years later George died and joined his wife here at age 79.

An Arizona death certificate shows that an infant son of George and Mary's was stillborn and his birth and death date were 21 Dec 1919.
