ROCK ISLAND -- Larry Dean Jones, of Kirkwood, Ill., formerly of Milan, Ill., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in Monmouth, Ill. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Burial will be in Bailey Cemetery, Keswick, Iowa. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In early years, Larry was employed by the former Servus Rubber Co., Rock Island, He later worked as a night supervisor on the Centennial Bridge, retiring in 1997. He was born April 15, 1938, in Iowa City, to Floyd and Dorothy (Fear) Jones. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School. He married Violet Crocker on May 26, 1960, in Rock Island. Larry was a former member of Rock Island Eagles. He was a peacetime member of the National Guard. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Archer, Monmouth; wife, Violet; sisters, Mary (Alois) DeKeyrel, Alexis, Ill., and Barbara (Wendell) Beck, Mary Ann Jones, Doris (Steve) Stoermer and Casey (Mike) Glenn, all of Des Moines; stepmother, Jessie Jones, Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, aunt and uncle, Alice and Duane Wilson, and sister, Margaret Hill. In Larry, we have lost a son, brother, loving husband and uncle.
